January Fashion and Style Portfolio: Embracing Wide-Leg Jeans
As the new year kicks off, I’ve been reflecting on how I want my wardrobe to evolve. January was all about making versatile choices that could work both for casual days and dressed-up moments—and the star of my wardrobe this month has been the wide-leg jean. After all, there’s something about the flattering silhouette and easy comfort that’s just perfect for the transition into colder weather, all while staying stylish.
This January, I focused on styling both my existing collection and new purchases that leaned heavily into the wide-leg trend. With an eye on affordable fashion, I found some fantastic options from American Eagle and Wrangler, two brands that brought both comfort and style to my closet.
Why Wide-Leg Jeans?
For the longest time, skinny jeans reigned supreme in my wardrobe, but I’ve found myself craving more freedom of movement and comfort. Wide-leg jeans tick all the boxes—they’re roomy, flattering on different body types, and lend an effortless, elevated vibe to any outfit. Whether you’re wearing them for a laid-back weekend or dressing them up for a night out, they have that perfect balance of casual-chic that’s hard to beat.
Another reason I’ve gravitated towards wide-leg jeans is their versatility. They pair effortlessly with everything from cozy sweaters to more structured blazers. I also like the balance of wearing a crop top or fitted top with wide leg jeans. Plus, with the wide-leg trend making a major comeback, I can’t resist the variety of cuts and washes available, offering a bit of nostalgia while keeping things fresh.
The Newest Additions: American Eagle & Wrangler
When it comes to finding the right pair of jeans, fit is key—and American Eagle really nailed it for me. Their wide-leg styles were not only super flattering, but the price point was also just right. I’m always on the lookout for affordable options that don’t skimp on quality, and AE has definitely delivered. I picked up a pair of their "Dreamy Drape Stretch Super High Waisted Wide-Leg jeans, which come in a large assortment of colors and length options, offering a clean, fresh look that pairs perfectly with everything from graphic tees, crop tops, to oversized knit sweaters. The rise is high enough to feel secure and comfortable while still showing off your shape, and the legs flow effortlessly for an easy-going yet put-together vibe.
I also discovered the magic of Wrangler’s wide-leg offerings. Known more for their heritage in workwear, Wrangler has done a great job modernizing their denim, bringing in styles that can easily fit into a contemporary wardrobe without losing the authenticity of their rugged, durable roots. Their wide-leg jeans have that perfect mix of a relaxed fit and structure, with a classic dark wash that feels perfect for dressing up or down. I styled these with a fitted turtleneck and a pair of chunky boots for a cozy yet chic ensemble perfect for winter weather. Who knew that Wrangler was still strong in the game like that? I actually discovered them from exploring an outlet of theirs near my neighborhood.
Styling Wide-Leg Jeans: A Mix of Old and New
One of the things I’ve enjoyed most this month is mixing my new purchases with my older wardrobe items. The wide-leg jean has proven to be a timeless investment piece that easily complements my existing style.
For casual days, I’ve paired my wide-leg jeans with a simple cropped hoodie and white sneakers. The silhouette of the wide-leg jean adds dimension to the outfit, while the hoodie keeps things relaxed and comfy. On chillier days, a leather jacket over the hoodie adds a bit of edge, while still maintaining the laid-back vibe.
Elevating the look for work or dinner, I’ve paired my Wrangler wide-leg jeans with a tucked-in blouse and a structured blazer. The oversized cut of the jeans balances out the sharpness of the blazer, and the blouse adds a hint of femininity to the otherwise menswear-inspired look. A pair of pointed-toe flats or heels help to elongate the legs and keep the outfit polished.
Weekend chic was all about comfort, and my AE wide-leg jeans fit the bill perfectly. I styled them with a chunky knit sweater and a scarf for extra warmth. A slouchy, oversized bag completed the look, giving me a relaxed, street-style-inspired vibe that’s both fashionable and practical.
Looking Ahead to February
As January comes to a close, I’m already thinking ahead to February. I’ll continue playing with different styles of wide-leg jeans, experimenting with denim washes and cuts. I’m especially excited to incorporate a few lighter, spring-ready versions into my wardrobe as the weather starts to shift. Plus, I’m looking forward to mixing my wide-leg jeans with new statement pieces and accessories to create even more interesting looks. This in no ways means that I have given up on skinny jeans. I will forever love skinny jeans, but exploring wide leg jeans has been exciting and fun. It also gives that youthful vibe to your outfit.
In conclusion, January has been a month of comfort and style for me, with wide-leg jeans taking center stage. From American Eagle to Wrangler, I found affordable, high-quality options that fit perfectly into my wardrobe and allowed me to build on a variety of looks. Here’s to a stylish start to 2025, and I can’t wait to see where this denim journey takes me in the months ahead!
Until next time, stay stylish and embrace those wide-leg vibes!

In the whirlwind of ever-changing fashion trends and the constant bombardment of new styles, it's easy to get swept up in the cycle of buying more and more. However, amidst the chaos of consumerism, there's a growing movement advocating for a more mindful approach to dressing: dopamine dressing.
Dopamine dressing isn't just about wearing what's trendy or what's deemed fashionable by the masses. It's about wearing clothes that spark joy, that make you feel confident, comfortable, and authentically yourself. And often, these pieces are already hanging in your closet, waiting to be rediscovered.
Lately, I've been on a journey to embrace dopamine dressing by reevaluating my relationship with my wardrobe. Instead of constantly seeking out the latest trends or succumbing to the allure of fast fashion, I've been making a conscious effort to appreciate and utilize what I already own. And let me tell you, it's been incredibly liberating.
Sure, I've had moments where I've been tempted by the shiny allure of new clothes, especially during my visits to places like TJ Maxx and Marshalls. These stores are treasure troves of affordable fashion finds, and I've certainly stumbled upon some gems that I couldn't resist adding to my collection. However, I've made a commitment to myself to ensure that these additions complement my existing wardrobe rather than overshadow it.
By staying true to my goal of wearing what I already own, I've discovered a newfound appreciation for the pieces that have been quietly waiting in the depths of my closet. That dress I bought on a whim but never had the chance to wear? It's now become a staple in my rotation.
Embracing dopamine dressing isn't just about minimizing waste or saving money (though those are certainly positive side effects). It's about cultivating a deeper connection with our clothes and the stories they tell. Each garment in our closet has a history, whether it's the dress we wore on a memorable night out or the sweater passed down from a loved one. By continuing to wear these pieces, we not only honor their past but also create new memories and experiences with them.
So the next time you find yourself staring into the depths of your closet, feeling overwhelmed by the endless array of choices, take a moment to pause and reflect. Challenge yourself to embrace dopamine dressing and rediscover the joy that comes from wearing what you already own. Who knows? You might just find that the best fashion statement is the one that's been hanging in your closet all along.

In the midst of a new year, I realized that my closet held untapped potential and hidden gems waiting to be rediscovered. Thus began my personal challenge to dress up more, explore the treasures within my wardrobe, and embrace the joy of dopamine dressing.
Metallics have been making waves in the fashion industry, and silver, in particular, has become the go-to shade for those seeking a futuristic and eye-catching look. Jeans, being a wardrobe staple, have not been left untouched by this trend. Metallic silver jeans effortlessly blend the classic denim silhouette with a touch of shimmer, creating a statement piece that's both versatile and stylish.
We all have that handbag that we lose sleep over, and this was mine. Besides a Vert Fizz Birkin 25 with palladium hardware, this Louis Vuitton vintage Murakami Cherry Blossom pochette is it. Thanks to eBay's authenticity guarantee it's not only mine, but I get to rest assured that I have the real deal and not some knock off. Shopping with eBay's authenticity guarantee was simple, and provided first class service to have my bag authenticated in person by a professional before it was shipped out to me. The whole process of getting the bag authenticated by eBay added no more than 2-3 days to the total shipping process.
This set from Lovers and Friends has got to be my absolute favorite set in my closet. It's not sold as a set online, but I couldn't imagine not getting the dress and the crop jacket together to wear as a set. I did get the dress and crop jacket from Revolve and they are currently both on sale!

I did some research before pulling the trigger on this dress. The reviews were very hit or miss. Some people loved the dress, some said it was bad quality and I have to say, the quality is great. The only complaint I would have it the sizing. It does run small in my opinion. I'm wearing a size Large and normally I would get a small or medium. I loved this dress so much I ended up also ordering it in white so I can style it with some of my colorful bags and shoes.
I did forget all of my accessories and jewelry since I was too overly excited to get some photos in before I was all finished getting dressed. That's what happens when you're rusty because you take so much time off from blogging...lesson learned!
Let me know if you've been loving the Barbie-core trend. My favorite color is pink so its an easy yes for me.
My jaw dropped to the floor when I discovered this gorgeous and colorful clothing line from India. Papa Don’t Preach is the name of the luxury brand and it suits the brand perfectly since their initiative is to style a modern society with a sense of unapologetic rebellion. The brand, created in 2010 by designer Shubhika Sharma, in Mumbai, a fashion metropolis in India, focuses on luxury items embellished with beads, crystals, and the most vibrant colors. At only 23 years old, Shubhika opened the doors of Papa Don't Preach to the world with a playful spin on traditional Indian silhouettes and detailed embellished designs.
Papa Don’t Preach caters to luxury shoppers in the market for bright vibrant bridal looks, jumpsuits, baby doll dresses and even has handbags and other accessories. The styles have even been seen on celebrities such as Paris Hilton, who wore a stunning, ornate, red beaded jumpsuit to a fragrance launch event.
My favorite collection from the brand is their line up of gorgeous, intricate, over the top baby doll dresses. These baby doll styles do come with a hefty price tag of over $1k US Dollars which would parallel this brand to luxury brands like Zimmermann. I was hoping their prices wouldn’t be so high, but from the moment I saw the first baby doll dress that sparked my interest in this brand, I knew it had to be some astronomical price because the detail and craftsmanship of the design looked top notch.
I’m certainly interested in Papa Don’t Preach and I am adding a few baby doll dresses to my style wish list for 2023! What do you think about this fashion line?

Happy Valentine's Day!
What a fun day to celebrate your love with all of the special people in your life. I am so grateful for all of the people in my life that I love so dearly, and I am grateful to spend time with them everyday. My family is my number 1 and they are my forever and my everyday Valentines!
I do love any reason to wear something pink, so here is my pink Valentine's outfit of the day. I decided to a bright pink Karl Lagerfeld tweed dress which I have been waiting for the perfect occasion to wear. The true tone of this dress is so much more vibrant and bright than what is pictured, it kind of looks coral in the photos. Same goes for my bag. This is one of my favorite bags, but I feel like it's hard to capture the true tone in photopgraphs. It's such a gorgeous bright pink, but since these were taken indoors with indoor lighting, the color looks much warmer and muted.
I had a wonderful Valentine's day dinner with my husband and a quiet evening watching TV. I'm hoping you had a day surrounded by love with the people who matter to you the most.
If you’re looking for fashionable statement pieces, look no further. Nigerian fashion designer Andrea Dumebi Imayah has found a way to seamlessly collide the world of fashion and nature. I discovered this clothing line after scrolling through my phone and gasping when the stunning yellow, lemon embellished two piece bikini popped up on my screen.
I immediately screenshot it and started searching for an online store where I could buy it immediately. Unfortunately for me that particular bikini was from a few seasons prior so it was sold out everywhere that I looked. Talk about disappointing. I did find the official Andrea Iyamah website and found all of her other gorgeous and unique designs and I fell in love. She is definitely a designer to keep your eyes on and support. I appreciate real artists who are passionate about their craft and Andrea is just that, a true talent.
